What is the best material to use for building a pigeon hide?
ANDY CROW replies: There is no right or wrong answer, really. I often use local vegetation, from evergreen boughs to hazel branches. Sometimes I don’t use net at all. When I do, I tend to use a combination to ‘layer’ my hide. I have some different coloured old army camo nets – some pale, some dark. I also use a lot of the modern ‘stealth camo’ type nets. They have the advantage of allowing you to see out when crouching down but won’t let the pigeons see in. The main thing is to match the colour of the environment you are shooting in and to give yourself a chance to see out to spot incoming targets.
