There are so many fox calls on the market, but which ones really work? I can’t mouth call or use the back of my hand but don’t want to spend a fortune on an electronic caller either.
DOM HOLTAM replies: Most experienced foxers will have a selection. Some people swear by using polystyrene foam on glass. Others love the new whiz-bang digital callers. I like the Best Fox Call Original, which is light and easy to blow and can be used while still ‘on the rifle’. I got it as part of a triple pack deal but probably use that one more than any other.
Learning what works when and at what time of the year is part of the journey and there is no such thing as a magic call! I have met a number of brilliantly successful foxers over the years and the one thing they have in common is that each one favours a different method of calling.
