Double success for Eaton Hall

Eaton Hall has collected two ground of the year titles in a single season, claiming the accolade at the CPSA’s annual awards ceremony in March having already taken the same title at the Great British Shooting Awards in February.

Sam Hargreaves, commercial director of Eaton Hall, told Sporting Gun: “To be recognised for not just one but two awards in our very first year is truly breathtaking, not just for me, but for my entire team. We’ve built a place where people feel welcome, supported and able to enjoy every aspect of the sport, all under one roof.”

Recognising excellence across the sport

The ceremony, hosted by actor Shaun Williamson – best known as Barry from EastEnders – also saw Phil Gray take top honours as Clay Shooter of the Year. Amy Easeman, who had also been nominated in that category, took Lady Shooter of the Year, while Connor Davies claimed the Rising Star Award. “Such a surreal moment, that still hasn’t sunk in,” Mr Davies said afterwards.

Ali Schwind was named Coach of the Year, Tracey Chalkley took Referee of the Year and Steve Lovatt won Course Setter of the Year. The Dynamic Ladies Shooting Club was named Community Champion; club founder Mhairi Ann Troup, unable to attend in person, said the recognition meant “so much, not just for me but for everything we’ve been working towards”.

A CPSA spokesperson said: “It is an honour to recognise and celebrate the outstanding achievements of individuals and organisations across the shooting world.”
