If you're a beginner or wanting an inexpensive all-round gun, you wont go wrong with one of these

Lincoln Premier

Lincoln guns are made for David Nickerson of Tathwell by FAIR – part of the Rizzini clan – in Italy. They offer excellent value for money without too many bells and whistles. The guns are built around a simple, well-proven action with split hinge pins and a full-width bolting system.

Lanber

A budget gun made in Spain that does not always receive much attention but is liked by gundealers and shooters alike because of its solid reliability. It incorporates a split hinge pin with a Browning-style bolting arrangement. The latest models have been improved cosmetically.

Bettinsoli

Bettinsoli is a name that has been attracting considerable attention recently. Its basic grade ‘Diamond Line’ game gun looks smart, is well made, and shoots well too. It might do double duty at clays, though a dedicated model is available if you prefer. No gun offers better value.

Miroku MK60

This is a fixed choke gun with a simple, plain action finish and a plain timber stock. We like its no-frills functionality. It’s based on the classic Browning superposed design, and made in Japan with a detachable fore-end. One of the best buys on the market – a lot of gun for the money.

Franchi Harrier

Now owned by Beretta, Franchi are once again making good but modestly priced guns. We are very impressed with the handling and shooting qualities of some of their latest products. They are good honest guns at sensible prices and they are backed up by the GMK service centre.
