The Scottish shooting community is running a nationwide coat donation campaign to help homeless people stay warm this winter.
Shooting Community Cares, created by Jamie Culpan, a committee member of the Scottish Countryside Alliance (SCA), is collecting outdoor clothing at drop-off points across Scotland for distribution through Simon Community Scotland, which works with homeless people in Glasgow, Edinburgh, North Lanarkshire and Perth and Kinross.
.
Nine locations are now accepting donations, including clay grounds at Auchterhouse, Cluny Activities, North Ayrshire, County Clays at Dunkeld House, and Seal’s Cove Aberdeen, plus Bushwear shops in Stirling and Perth, Scott Country International in Dumfries and Southern Uplands Moorland Group in the Scottish Borders.
.
Mr Culpan said: “Everyone involved in countryside sports owns at least one warm coat they barely wear anymore. Instead of sitting in a cupboard, that coat could make a huge difference to someone trying to stay warm this winter.”
He added: “This is a simple idea that turns the generosity of the shooting community into something immediately useful. It’s practical, it’s positive and it shows the wider public who we really are.”
The campaign launched in December and will continue through February 2026. To get involved, contact jamie-culpan@countryside-alliance.org.
