Is my son too young for custom-mould ear plugs? I don’t want them to be a waste of money if he grows! Martin Dickman from Cens replies
Q: I would love to get my son fitted with a pair of really good custom-moulded ear plugs, but being a reasonably pricey investment I don’t want him to grow out of them in a year. What age roughly do your ear canals stop growing?
MARTIN DICKMAN replies: According to various studies and research, it is thought that the ear canal is adult size by approximately 16 years old. Children are safe to get custom-moulded ear plugs, but getting them remade by the manufacturer you purchased them from, or at your local CENS dealer, will help to maintain fit as your child gets older. It is recommended that children’s ear plugs are remade yearly until the ear stops growing.
