Eley Hawk sponsored shooters make history for Team GB!

Eley Hawk, are proud sponsors of some of the most talented clay and game shooters in the country. From new, up and coming talent, national, world, and Olympic champions to legends of the sport. Within this group, two elite clay shooters have made their mark on the European and World stages. 

Amber Hill and Lucy Hall both represented Team GB at the European Championships and World Championships in their respective disciplines, with the two shooters bringing home an impressive haul of medals. The 2022 European Championships were held at the Larnaca Olympic Shooting Range in Cyprus from the 24^{th of} August to the 12^th of September 2022. The second of the two tournaments to take place was the ISSF World Shotgun Championships 2022 in Osijek, Croatia, held from the 19^th of September to the 12^th of October 2022.

Amber Hill, the 25-year-old Olympic Skeet shooter, achieved an incredible 5 medals over the two tournaments. Amber won gold in the Mixed Team Skeet, with her teammate Ben Llewellin, and won silver in the Women’s Skeet at the World Championships in Croatia. Amber also won gold in all three of her events at the European Championships in Cyprus; the Women’s Skeet, Women’s Team Skeet, and the Mixed Team Skeet, earning a Paris 2024 Olympic quota spot for Great Britain.

When asked about the past year, Amber commented: “It’s been a crazy year for me. Coming back from the struggles of last year in not going to the Olympics due to Covid, I wasn’t sure how this year would go. I was feeling very deflated and had thoughts of not wanting to get back into it, but I pushed myself to get back into training.”

Amber further commented on her recent performances: “I could never have expected the medals to be flowing in like they have been, medalling at every competition I’ve entered this year is just incredible… the tournaments I was really aiming for this year were the European Championships and the World Championships, as I have never won a title in these events before.” Amber further commented: “Being named European champion and having won my quota place for the next Olympics is incredible, especially being the first event of the season where I could have won it.”

When asked about the World Championships, Amber said: “Going to the World Championships, the standard is so high, but as I had already won my quota place, I felt I could relax and try to win another title. To come away with silver was another fantastic achievement for me. It couldn’t have been possible without the support of my sponsors, such as Eley Hawk, all my team at British Shooting, and all my family and friends supporting me a lot off-range.”

Lucy Hall, the 19-year-old Olympic Trap shooter, also achieved an impressive 3 medals of the two events. Lucy won silver in the Mixed Team Olympic Trap, with her teammate Nathan Hales, at the World Championships in Croatia and won silver in the Women’s Olympic Trap, beating London 2012 gold medallist, Jessica Rossi in the process, and bronze in the Women’s Team Trap at the European Championships. Lucy’s success in the European Championships also provided Great Britain another quota spot for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

When asked about her performances over the two tournaments, Lucy commented: “I’m absolutely over the moon with how I performed at the Europeans and Worlds! All the hard work I have been putting in is now really showing! So, roll on bigger and better things in 2023.”

Shooting at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games will take place between the 27^th July and the 5^th August at the National Shooting Center, Châteauroux. There will be 340 competitors (170 men and 170 women) competing across 15 events in various disciplines within rifle, pistol, and shotgun shooting. Amber Hill, competing in the Women’s Skeet for Team GB in Paris commented on the upcoming games: “We’re all looking forward to Paris rather than stewing on the past of Tokyo. I’m excited to see what the future holds for me, and hopefully the medals come flowing in again next year.”
