Good luck to all those of you out on the moors today for the Glorious Twelfth. If you’re lucky enough to be shooting grouse this season, here are five top tips to help you make the most of your day
1) Before you leave, check with your host what cartridges are accepted on the moor – some insist on fibre wads.
2) Find a local ground with a grouse butt to practice technique beforehand
3) Don’t dawdle with your shots. Be positive; commit, and you will find a natural flow
4) Don’t obsess over shooting a left and a right
5) Don’t be afraid to ask your host any safety questions before the day starts, however silly they may seem
