A review of the Upland Hunter jacket from Browning

With the better weather coming (hopefully), we were very interested to sample Browning’s latest lightweight jacket, the Upland Hunter. Designed specifically for active hunting, it is extremely lightweight and flexible but offers good weather protection thanks to the windproof, waterproof and breathable Pre-Vent membrane.
I like the cut of this jacket – slightly longer to cover your backside and keep the wind off your lower back. The fitted waist and high collar not only make it look a bit smarter, but the collar also offers protection from the elements and stores a hood. The deep lower pockets feature clever magnetic closure and there are a couple of handwarmer pockets too… but if I was being super-critical, they are sited an inch or two too high for my liking.
The material has a nice, slightly peached finish, which I prefer to the Featherlight jacket, and the muted browns look smart and blend in well.
I have used this jacket in some fairly foul weather and it has proved adequately waterproof, superbly windproof and impressively breathable when hiking. If you want a smart, functional jacket for active stalking, dog handling or general outdoors wear, the Upland Hunter is a fine choice.
